Website upgraded to DragonFly v9.3

I've upgraded the website to the latest version of DragonFly, v9.3. Apparently this is the last version in the v9.x series before v10 appears (though when that may be no-one knows).

As this site uses my own custom modules and theme, and is quite far removed from anything resembling a "default" DragonFly installation, I was a bit nervous doing the update, however it was surprisingly painless and apart from a minor tweak to the common module it appears to have worked perfectly.

In the next few days I'll be updating mComp to use DragonFly v9.3 as there is a rather fundamental, if simple, modification to the common module required for the new version. In the meantime if you have DragonFly v.9.2.x or earlier stick with your current version of mComp. The up-coming v5.7.1 will require DragonFly v9.3.x.

mComp v5.6.1 released

A new version of mComp has been uploaded, free to all existing customers from the private forum area.

This is a minor version number update, so you'll need to do an upgrade through Admin -> Modules. As always please make sure you have backups of all your code and your database before applying this upgrade so you can put things back as they were if it goes wrong.

05.07 Events - My Events - Add Competition - Step 3/4 - Schedule

For leagues and cups you can define a schedule which specifies which maps are played at each stage of the competition and the date / time at which each stage is to be played. You can edit the schedule from the "My Events" page by selecting the "Schedule" option for each competition however for most competition types where a schedule can be defined the Schedule page appears during the set-up phase.

For each stage of the competition select a date / time and which map or maps are to be be played. The map choices displayed will be those defined in the Map Pool for this competition. If you wish teams to schedule their own matches and choose their own maps you can leave the map selection empty.

Once you have defined a schedule you're asked whether you want to generate fixtures :-

Note: selecting "Yes" will delete any existing fixtures for the competition, so you should only do this before the competition starts.

If you're doing this before any teams / players have been added to the competition nothing will happen, so you might want to click "No" initially then come back to this screen (by selecting "Schedule" from "My Events") once all teams have been added.

Clicking "Yes" will create all the fixtures for all the teams / players in this competition. For Leagues this means all the fixtures for the entire competition, for Cups it will only create the fixtures for the 1st round (because it won't know who's playing who in the 2nd and subsequent rounds).

Note: If you define a schedule for a Cup before adding teams / players, 1st round fixtures will be automatically created for the 1st round for each pair of teams / players added as they're added, so you won't need to revisit this page and select the Generate Fixtures option.

01.02 Installation - mComp

Once you have installed DragonFly and configured it according to your needs if applicable you can now install mComp.

On purchasing the module you should have received a link to download the mComp package, which comes as a single .zip file. Download and unzip this package, and upload the contents of the html folder to your website.

mComp actually consists of 2 modules, one called Common and the other called Competition. You will need to install both modules separately as DragonFly doesn't support module dependencies.

Installing a DragonFly module is straight forward. Go to your Admin panel and select the Modules icon. Click the Install link next to Common and then the install link next to Competition. All the necessary tables for mComp will now be created in your database.

You will have to activate both of these modules to use them. You can save activating the Competition module until you've configured it to your preference, but you must activate Common before doing anything in Competition.

As far as installation is concerned, that's all there is to it! The next step is to configure the module and set up some base information.
